Foundation Stage (Nursery – Grade II)

Together, we play, learn, and grow.

At Mount Carmel Global School, the Foundation Stage (Nursery to Grade II) follows the principles of NEP 2020, providing a safe, joyful, and nurturing environment where children learn through play, exploration, and meaningful experiences..

Our Approach to Early Learning

Our Pre-Primary curriculum is designed to support holistic development by focusing on the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of every child.

Learning takes place through:

What Children Learn

Language & Communication Skills

Children develop speaking, listening, early reading, and vocabulary skills through storytelling, conversations, and interactive activities.

Early Numeracy & Cognitive Skills

Basic number concepts, patterns, sorting, puzzles, and problem-solving activities help build thinking skills.

Fine & Gross Motor Development

Activities such as threading beads, colouring, writing readiness, movement, and play strengthen coordination and motor skills.

Social & Emotional Development

Children learn sharing, cooperation, independence, confidence, and positive behaviour in a caring environment.

Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN)

In alignment with NEP 2020, our Foundation Stage focuses on building strong literacy and numeracy skills through phonics, storytelling, early reading, writing readiness, number games, puzzles, patterns, counting activities, and hands-on learning.

Learning Through Play

Children doing hands-on activity like blocks, clay, art, sorting shapes, or nature activity.

How Learning Happens

Our classrooms are vibrant, child-friendly spaces filled with colours, creativity, and joy. Teachers guide children with patience and warmth, encouraging them to explore, ask questions, and learn at their own pace.

There is no academic pressure—only encouragement and gentle guidance.

Assessment & Individual Care

Assessment in Pre-Primary is observation-based, focusing on each child’s progress and development rather than marks or exams.

Early Academic Foundations

As children progress into Grades I and II, they gradually develop reading, writing, communication, and mathematical skills through activity-based learning, English Language Enrichment, Wordsworth ELT, interactive games, and digital classrooms.

Preparing for Primary School

Our Foundation Stage builds strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, communication, confidence, independence, and social skills, ensuring a smooth transition to the Preparatory Stage.

Our Promise

We aim to provide a smart, secure, and stimulating Foundation Stage learning environment where every child feels valued, confident, and ready to grow.
